Rick Stein Seafood review
Me and my Husband have eaten in The Seafood Restaurant many times as well as staying there, and we have never had any reason to complain. The food and service has always been excellent, the staff are always polite and friendly, but then i think alot is how you treat them, they are people after all ! We have also met Rick one morning when we went to breakfast and even though he too was waiting for his breakfast it was no trouble to have a chat to us.We will continue to keep going back. -

What can I say...this place is amazing!! We had the taster menu which was just subliminal! Never have I eaten such fresh and full of flavour seafood & fish!!! The combinations of flavour are enough to send your mind dizzy! The service was second to none and the restaurant has a fabulous atmosphere around you. The only bad thing I could say about this place was the tables for 2 were a little too close for comfort we were practically on the laps of our fellow diners!
Not only did we eat there but we also stayed there. The room was fantastic and catered to our every needs. They were large and spacious and came with a fan, an iron and a hair dryer! Oh yes and lets not forget the mini bar!! I recommend the mini bars Chalkys Bite a rather nice tipple!
All in all and exccellant experience and I would go again with out question! -

Such a disappointment, poor service, uninspiring food and a large bill. Its not a surprise there are no michelin stars and its not the fresh, local and interesting experience you are led to believe. I guess its my fault for believing in a television programme really! save your money and try the other smaller restaurants in Padstow. All the Stein establishments we tried were full of miserable staff so maybe its just him! -

Rick Stein Seafood review
Having lived in Cornwall since before Rick Stein appeared , with hair, on Floyd on Fish, I was interested to check out the varied reports I had heard of this Mecca for fish. The new dining room feels smartly cosmopolitan, rather than a reflection of its locaton. What struck us after our starters was that we could have eaten just as well in a Breton village café, for a quarter of the price; though perhaps that is missing the point. Rick Stein likes to emphasise the merits of fresh fish, simply cooked, but when one is in expert hands, it is reasonable to be able to find a few dishes on the menu which are beyond the skills of an amateur at home. Perhaps this may be one of the reasons behind this restaurant's curious reluctance to attract Michelin stars. The turbot was straightforward but most enjoyable, but the monkfish was disappointingly overcooked and rubbery. I'm sure that Mr Stein, had he been there, would have sent it back at the pass. All veg fine, if unremarkable. I can recommend the Tower Estate's 2004 A.H. Chardonnay as a viable alternative to Burgundy, and a glass of Saussignac was much enjoyed before the selection of four puds, of which the Panna Cotta was the star. Service was attentive and unfussy, but dessert menus were cheerfully placed in front of us before the main course arrived. The very fine quality of the coffee was the only aspect of this lunch that seemed commensurate with our expectations of a £90-a-head meal. -

Very bad service, it took forever between the courses while the waiters gathered around the till without doing anything at all!I wanted to order desert but I gave up the idea, I was fed up with waiting the waiters! And again we had to wait forever till someone collects my credit card, at the end, I left cash on the table and left the place! And it was overpriced, these were Kensington prices, nothing to do with the modest fishing village of Padstow. -

No restaurant tables as we had no reservation, but we sat at the bar and enjoyed fruits de mer and 2 excellent bottles of muscadet very happy with food, atmosphere and service but all changed when we asked about overnight accomodation and overheard the self opinionated night porter making rude comments about us! Typical isn't it, somebody works hard to establish a good business which is spoiled by bad staff!! -

Fantastic meal as usual, the staff are brilliant the surroundings are excellent. Scallops to start, Skate for main, steamed chocolate pudding for after. Whoever said the vegetables were no good either had no taste or haven't a culinary clue.
I rarely eat vegetables however the carrots I had were infused with Cumin and coriander....(guess!) Tasted fantastic!!
I love this restaurant and will be back to dine in style again next year. -

Rick Stein Seafood - fantastic!
My fiance took me to the Seafood Restaurant as a suprise as I love Rick Stein. I can't have been more impressed. From our glass of champagne in the pretty conservatory first to our lovely large and private table in the restaurant, it was seemless, perfect service throughout. The food was divine - Scallops to start and a whole dover sole to follow. Each was cooked to perfection and deemed heavenly. Attentive and knowledgable staff assisted us with both food and wine choices. Even though we were full, we couldn't resist a plate of cheese for afters. Delicious. A further drink in the conservatory and we were totally satisfied - worth every penny. I highly recommend! -

12 of us went for my sons 40th birthday (his choice of venue) not alot for the 2 veggies, but the rest of us had a fantastic meal. I have never seen a crab so big as the one I demolished. We thought the brill was better than the turbot, but that's just a personal thing. The service was great, wanted to go again the next night but they were fully booked. A wonderful experience, not to be missed!! Thank you.
