We ate at the Bay Restaurant in September 2006 and the food was 'out of this world'. The red mullet and scallop starter was excellent followed by the Cornish Beef with black truffle crushed potatoes. The dessert was even better. The service was excellent - efficient but not fussy. The tables are carefully arranged and a 'meal for two' is just that. The ambiance and view over Mount's Bay was a treat complimenting the food.

Well, I will certainly be returning to this restaurant again. It has superb views across Penzance and the harbour. The food is perfectly cooked I had a large portion of the Mussels with Cornish beef for my main and my wife started with the vegetarian soup followed by Tempura vegetables for the main. I couldn't manage a dessert but we did share a platter of Cornish cheeses with a nice glass of vintage port. perfect.

Fish from the Bay

A recent evening meal at the Bay was particularly good. Both Norman and I started with scallops, served with a salad garnish and nicely cooked. For my main course, I had monk fish, served on a bed of red rice and Norman had line-caught sea bass. The dishes came with very tasty mashed potatoes but we were disappointed that no other vegetables were included (apart from those used in garnish). However, we ordered a portion of asparagus between us and discovered that this was a very ample portion and not expensive - it was also cooked perfectly.
On this occasion, we couldn't manage any dessert and finished our meal with coffee.

Ive Never known a restaurant smart or otherwise to make such an effort to make our small celebration such a sucess, when they knew that it was my Brothers going away party not only did all the members of staff know about the event, but they pulled out all the stops. Lots of thoughtful additonal details and personal touches. We did'nt want a standardised meal and we certainly did'nt get one!
I would reccommend the Bay Restaurant wether its for dinner for 2 or 20!
