The first thing to be said about this place is it is an unmissable experience! Even if you didn't like the food the whole thing would be worth it!
Set in an isolated 19th centruy hunting lodge/folly overlooking Camborne and Redruth some way below, the "castle" has more atmosphere than you can shake a stick at! One can only imagine what it would be like on a windswept winter's evening.

Anyway, almost forgot the food! Being a veggie I had a mezza which was stuffed vine leaves, humus and pitta and some kind of aubergine dip. All very tasty, could have been more of it though, an extra dish would have made it. Also there was a bit of an overlap with the starters. For future reference, if I went again I'd just pick all the starters and share them with someone.
Other, meatier food looked pretty good and well cooked. The rest of my party seemed pretty happy with what they had.

Drinks are a little limited with a choice of house red or house white (I think)

If you want a dining experience than be sure to add this castle restaurant to your must list! The owner is a Jordanian who took an English wife. The food was well prepared but diffidently spiced from his background not hers. If for no other reason take your best girl to the castle at sunset & warm her blood with a little wine the view and ambiance is grand. To you Americans that wish to follow - getting up to the castle by car is one thing but strap on your seatbelts if you’re headed home after dark!

We visited this restaurant on a dark, wet November evening. We were met at the entrance and led up a narrow stone staircase to a room with a welcoming fire. Our party of five were presented with menus and given some explanation as to the more unusual items on offer.
Our Jordanian host then led us up to our table. A room lit only by candlelight. This helped to create a real mediaeval ambience. We found it hard to choose from the extensive menu offering Middle Eastern as well as European cuisine. We chose Garlic Mushrooms and Menaeesh as starters. Main courses on offer included steaks, chicken, lamb and prawns with various sauces and accompaniments. The experience was enhanced by Arabic rhythms from the discreet hifi. Members of our party chose: Sayadeyeh - Tiger Prawns cooked with onions, garlic and green chillies on a bed of saffron rice; Fillet Cara - Steak in a rich whisky sauce; Pepper Fillet and Jordanian style lamb cutlets as our mains.
Whilst awaiting our coffee and dessert we were treated to our host, Mounir playing his bongo rather expertly. This was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and a unique experience. Well worth a visit.
