The Wheelhouse Restaurant review
review by: Rob Jackson

A poor restaurant with a cheesy sea themed décor. I misfortunately went to lunch there with my girlfriend and choose the mussels and sardines to share. Both meals were tiny for what we paid (about £8 each). For the mussel dish we received about 15 small mussels drowned in what seemed to be a watery butter sauce, along with a measly piece of bread. We were also served 3 small sardines which were mostly head/tail and bones. Not only this but one of the sardines was inedible; the waitress claimed it was ‘soggy’ and she refused to give any compensation for it whatsoever because we had ‘eaten the other two’. This in itself was ridiculous, how could we have foreseen the soggy flesh through the skin if the chef didn’t? Why did she require all three to be returned? Choose one of the other restaurants along this port that sells quality fresh fish.
