Alverton Manor review
review by: Sandra L
02nd 2006f August 2006

On Sunday 11th June 2006, we decided to take my niece out to lunch in Truro. As it was Sunday many places were closed, so I booked a table at Alverton Manor.

We had a very good lunch at a reasonable cost. Norman and I started with marinated salmon on a buckwheat pancake. It was very good, and Jennie said her leek and potato soup was good too. We all chose the same main course – poached halibut with green asparagus and a hollandaise sauce. The fillets of fish were large and they were served with large individual portions of potatoes and a selection of vegetables.

For dessert, I had crème caramel with caramel ice cream, whilst Norman and Jennie chose gooseberry fool. Jennie and I had a glass each of Petit Chablis with our meal, and Norman decided to have a beer. Service was pleasant and efficient and presentation was good. The tables were set with nice linen and the ambience of the restaurant was good.

Coffee and tea were served in the lounge. The coffee was cafetière brewed and the tea was leaf tea, to Norman’s delight. Mints accompanied the coffee and tea. The bill came to a total of £62.30, not including service. We shall be back…
