We have eaten at the Lime Tree and brought numbers of family and friends for lunch dinner (and an amazing New Year eve feast)probably 20 or more times. The restaurant has never failed to impress us with the quality of the food, the welcome, the very reasonable cost and we love the decor. It is now our favourite restaurant in Penwith.

Very pleasant relaxing surroundings, quietly away from the main street. Freindly but professional service, smiling faces. Food interesting and modern.

travelled from truro because we had heard good reports, we were not disapointed! the food was marvelous, menu small but perfectly formed. We all felt as though we dined at a friends house, as a retired chef I loved the (seemingly) simple but different tastes on offer. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Will be going back again.

Good niche menu, focused on manageable number of options so that quality is not compromised, and is a refreshing change to the catering for the masses philosophy adopted by so many restaurants. Nice atmosphere with a continental feel, and attnetive but non intrusive family service

My partner and I dine out on a regular basis all over the county. We are both involved in the hospitality industry, making us hard customers to please. Until we found the Lime Tree that is. Not only do they please, they excite, involve and create a stunning sensory experience. From the beautifully prepared courses to the sincere and un-intrusive service. All provided for in an artistically inspired and welcoming environment. There are many fakes out there.... If you desire a true dining experience look no further then The Lime Tree.

In my opinion the only place to eat out in Penzance that keeps drawing you back again and again. It's a really friendly place with a peaceful atmosphere, lovely flowers and interesting paintings on the walls. Lunches are good value and invariably delicious. The home made bread is hard to resist.
I had a wonderful birthday dinner here recently and the excellent quality steak was cooked so that it melted in the mouth and was matched with unusual trimmings that left the palate fresh and not overwhelmed from a strong meat dish. No room for pudding that time sadly.
I like the small menu and attention to detail, you know that everything is very freshly prepared.
My dad's birthday will be my next excuse...

I've eaten here 3 times. rwice when they were under the Arts Club and once in the new place. The last occassion was very disappointing. The food was over fussy, minimalist portions and well over priced for the quality - and the service rather precious. The decor is more like a posh Doctor's waiting room. Give it a miss. Go the Abbey instead.

I have just returned from yet another delightful lunch at The Lime Tree. Both my companion and I chose the same dishes. We started with lovely olive bread and an oil and balsamic vinegar dip. For our main course we had tempura of John Dory. The batter was superb and the fish was served with watercress, spicy shredded carrots and sour cream and other garnishes. To follow we had a delicious creme brulee. with the meal, we just drank a carafe of water. The meal cost £24.90 for the two of us.

The surroundings are delightful and there are always fresh flowers on the table. Service is friendly and efficient. this is a place to return to again and again.

The Lime Tree - Penzance

The Lime Tree is Penzance's latest restaurant and has the likes of the Bay, the Abbey and the Bakehouse to contend with in its niche of upmarket, modern eclectic cuisine.

First impressions were pretty good, with the restaurant located in a Georgian fronted house with a comfortable, yet modern interior.

The menu was quite was small with 4 mains including 2 fish, meat and veggie option. Between 4 of us we tried all but one.
For starters I had scallops, which were pretty much as good as they get - seared to perfection.
I had brill with wasabi bearnaise - mainly out of interest as a) I haven't eaten brill before and b) I was intrigued by the idea of a wasabi sauce. Anyway it exceeded my expectations with the bearnaise being subtle enough not too overpower the rest of the plate.

I skipped dessert, but everyone else seemed more than happy with theirs.

All in all, about the best dinner I've had in Penzance for a while and highly recommended. One minor niggle, found the acoustics a bit annoying where we were sat - a little harsh and echoey, but with good food, I think you can live with it!
