Mount Haven review

Visited here last on Easter Sunday 8th April 2007. This has long been one of our family`s favourite eating places and it has never failed to live up to its promise. We have been visiting for about twenty years so have seen many changes the latest of them being for the good. Food was of good quality nicely cooked and presented and service came with a beaming smile. We were given a table right in the window so sat looking at the Mount bathed in evening sunlight, fantastic. a full three course meal for three with a bottle of wine, pre dinner driks and post dinner coffee for a total of £130. Good value for a good evening.

Mount Haven review

We went to the Mount Haven for a birthday lunch towards the end of October.
Upon entering the restaurant the first thing that strikes you is the incredible view out towards St Michael's Mount and the bay. To add to this the restaurant feels comfortable with plenty of sofas to have a pre-dinner drink on whilst taking in the view. The interior is pretty tasteful, with lots of nice touches and interesting art.

The menu was quite refreshing with dishes such as crab tagliatelle, spinach and mushroom stuffed pancakes and sea bass with hake. One problem was the specials weren't written down and only read out to us once.

I had the crab tagliatelle. The dish consisted of fresh tagliatelle in a cream and crab sauce. Overall it was very good and there was plenty of it. Possibly a little rich for the size of the portion, but all in all nothing to fault it on. All the mains were served with homemade bread on the side which was lovely.
Everybody else on the table seemed happy with what they had.

For dessert I had chocolate tort, which was good, and beautifully presented (as were all the desserts)

The bill worked out at around £15-20 per head for a main and dessert with coffee.

The service was generally efficient and friendly although slightly marred by a waitress who seemed somewhat put out to be serving us.
